Dr. Srihari Palli Ph. D, Post Doc.About MECHANICAL Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Aditya Institute of Technology and Management was established in 2004 with an initial intake of 60 students. An additional intake of 60 seats was approved in the academic year 2011–12. A postgraduate programme, M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering, was also introduced in 2011–12 with an intake of 18 students. The B.Tech. intake was enhanced to 180 in 2019 and later rationalized to 120 in 2022. A new M.Tech. programme in Computer Integrated Manufacturing was introduced in 2025 with an intake of 12 students, further strengthening the department’s postgraduate and research profile.
The institution has been accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. The college also received TEQIP funds under Phase-II, Sub-component 1.1, with the department receiving a major share to improve the teaching-learning process. These achievements have enhanced the prestige of the institution and the department, thereby helping students improve their academic standards. Both the B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes are approved by AICTE and the Government of Andhra Pradesh and are permanently affiliated to JNTU-GV, Vizianagaram. The UG Mechanical Engineering programme has been accredited by NBA four times—under Tier-II in 2013 and 2017, and under Tier-I in 2021 and 2024—reflecting sustained academic excellence.
The department is recognized as a Research Centre by JNTU-GV and demonstrates strong research potential, with 12 faculty members holding Ph.D. degrees and 11 faculty members currently pursuing their Ph.D. In addition, five research scholars are actively working towards their doctoral degrees. The department is equipped with skill-oriented laboratories, including a Siemens-PLM Authorized Training Centre and an Applied Robot Control Lab in association with the European Centre for Mechatronics and Manufacturing, Germany. State-of-the-art laboratories such as the 3DX Lab from Dassault Systèmes, Automobile Lab, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Lab, established in association with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Centre, are valuable assets to the department. These facilities help enhance the practical skills and employability of students.
Over the years, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been progressing steadily with significant growth in both academic and research activities.
